While Meaco is mainly a dehumidifier company they also sell air purifiers and humidifiers of exceptional quality for those who suffer from allergies or for those who just want cleaner and healthier air.

Is The MeacoClean CA-Hepa Right For You?
As with dehumidifiers Meaco is making it super easy for you to select the correct air purifier.
Historically the problem with air purifiers and dehumidifiers were that people would just buy a unit that would suit their budget without any regard to whether the unit would be ideal for the size of the room or whether it would help the allergy or not.
So they would buy an air purifier with the wrong filter for the allergy and/or an air purifier that is too small for the room. Then they’d be disappointed and think that the air purifier didn’t work. No wonder!!
So when selecting an air purifier there are two things that you must know:
- What you are allergic too
- Size of the room in M³
What Are You Allergic Too?
The MeacoClean air purifiers can remove the following pollutants from the air:
- Pollen
- Smoke
- Dust
- Dust mites
- Mould spores
- Viruses
- Bacteria
- Pollution
- VOCs
- Pet dander
So if you want to get rid of any or all of these then the MeacoClean air purifier is for you.
What Is The Size Of Your Room?
Next you should check the size of your room. Typically air purifiers are placed in the bedroom for a good nights sleep however you can also place the air purifier in the room that you spend the most time in.
Before you rush of to measure your room here is a very important point.
The MeacoClean CA-HEPA 119×5 can remove 595m³ of air per hour. The more often the room air is passed through the air purifier the cleaner and healthier it will become.
For mild allergies try to get the room air through an air purifier at least 3 times per hour.
For medium allergies the room air should pass through the air purifier at least 5 times per hour.
For severe allergies push the room air through the air purifier at least 8 times per hour.

Multi-Stage Filtration System
As with all things Meaco the MeacoClean air purifiers ooze quality this is especially true for the multi-stage filtration system.
The image above shows the exact process of the multi-stage filtration system.
The dust pre-filter removes large particles from the air while the true HEPA filter removes particles as small as 0.3 microns. HEPA filters must pass strict construction and operational guidelines to be classes as a HEPA filter so you always know that HEPA filters are quality filters.
The air then hits the enhanced active charcoal filter which removes smells and odours. The reason that the charcoal filter is called enhanced is because it features +-450gr of charcoal (+-130gr for the MeacoClean 47×5) enabling superior odour removal.
Furthermore to ensure ultra clean air both the HEPA and charcoal filters are fitted with a rubber gasket which ensures that the air must pass through these filters to exit the air purifier.
The PCO and ultra violet effects then combine to kill any bacteria, viruses and germs in the air.
As a final step the ioniser neutralises the dust particles.
You can easily see that any air that passes through the MeacoClean filtration system comes out very clean.
MeacoClean 47×5 Features
While the smaller 47×5 air purifier does not contain as many features as the 119×5 the unit still offers a great product at a fantastic price.
Feather Touch Controls
The MeacoClean features feather touch controls which allows the user to run their fingers over the controls and watch the settings change as if by magic.
MeacoClean 119×5 Features
Particle Counter
A super cool feature of the MeacoClean is that it features a particle counter that changes the setting of the unit depending on the amount of allergens in the air.
Air Cleanliness Indicator
The unit also features a colour changing light which shows you how clean or dirty the air is. This way you can simply see the quality of the air by looking at the indicator light.
Sleep Mode
Some people may find it difficult to go to sleep with an appliance running in the room due to the operational sounds and lights.
Meaco has installed a ‘Sleep Mode’ on the MeacoClean which sets the fan in a very low setting and which also turns off all the lights on the unit. This feature will make it much easier to get a good nights sleep while still receiving the benefits of purified air.

Final Thoughts
Meaco only produced two air purifier models, the Meaco Airvax and the MeacoClean air purifiers, we are fans of both.
Our favourite Meaco air purifier is the MeacoClean 119×5 which is followed by the Meaco Airvax.
We would recommend that if you can stretch your budget from the MeacoClean 47×5 to the MeacoClean 119×5 Air Purifier try to do so as the unit contains many more features and your air will be much cleaner which should lead to a much reduced allergy symptoms (and a good nights sleep!!).
Buy Your MeacoClean Air Purifier Here
As With so many of these air purifiers they publish test results for smoke, dust ,and pollen as do all the others but no test results for VOCs or viruses or traffic pollution only the sayso of the company.
I am looking for one that can produce results that show what it says
and it is getting very difficult to find one.
Hi Peter. Check out the Meaco Airvax as it contains a SEFF filter which picks up smaller particles than HEPA filters. The airvax is also approved by ECARF. Both companies are very approachable when it comes to questions.
Can you advise if dog odours along with a potential allergy would be reduced with the 119/5,
Hi William, I checked with Meaco and they said that the 119 x 5 will get rid of the dog odours and also help with reducing potential allergies. 🙂
Many thanks for your quick reply,so here is the question I will need to replace my daughters Meaco 10 litre dehumidifier with another and notice it implies an air cleaning facility so do you think this would be of any benifit to me in a room that is 96sq ie L.x.W.w H or is this a wish full thinking and I should just bite the bullet and buy both.
I don’t know your exact situation but since you already have a dehumidifier it suggests that you may have, or have had, a damp problem. If there’s excess humidity involved (ie over 60%) then I would get a dehumidifier as excess moisture can trigger allergy symptoms if not allergies themselves. For cleaner air I would look for an anti-bacterial filter and ioniser. Typically ionisers only reach out around 6ft but the Meaco Zambezi’s ioniser has a 10m range plus the Zambezi is cheaper than the MeacoClean 119 x 5.
Another option is the EcoAir DC202 hybrid dehumidifier/air purifier which features a multi-filtration system.
If you just want an air purifier then the filter in the MeacoClean 119 x 5 is very, very good. It’s even better than HEPA filters and will provide a very healthy air.
If you do want to try the double whammy it might still be best to buy a dehumidifier with an anti-bacterial filter and ioniser but maybe a cheaper unit. I personally own a Meaco DD8L compact and like it very much.
Just to add that both the Meaco Zambezi and DD8L Compact feature Meaco’s Control Logic energy saving technology so they’ll only operate for 10 minutes out of every hour once the required humidity has been reached so they are very efficient.
Hope that helps a bit. just let me know if you have any further questions. 🙂
