Eco-Friendly Desiccant
The EcoAir Eco DD122MK5 is a desiccant dehumidifier and, as such, does not feature a compressor which throws of ugly gases. This makes the EcoAir eco-friendly (apart from using mains electricity).
Desiccant dehumidifiers are cheaper to run at low temperatures and are also more efficient at lower temperatures. The EcoAir DD122 MK5 Dehumidifier will work in temperatures down to 1C.
A great benefit is that the DD122MK5 heats the surrounding air by 5-10C when the machine is working thereby saving the user on heating costs.
Therefore, given the above, if you live in a cold area the EcoAir DD122MK5 could be for you.
It’s All About Water
The EcoAir DD122 MK5 can extract up to 7 litres per day at a temperature of 20C and 60% relative humidity.
Since this dehumidifier features E7 Technology which contains an Auto Toggle Power Saver and an Auto Sensor the DD122MK5 can regulate itself the end result being that the user saves on running costs and daily extraction will most likely be well below 7 litres per day (unless the area is very wet and the machine is running on full power 24 hours a day).
The E7 technology also brings ‘Overdry Protection’ to the fore. This means that when the air becomes too dry the EcoAir DD122 MK5 Dehumidifier automatically stops working until the humidity levels rise above the set levels when the DD122 MK5 will start working automatically.
The water tank holds 2 litres and has an optional continuous drainage facility. A 3.3ft hose comes supplied in case you want to use the facility.
Cool Features
Apart from the Auto Toggle Power Saver the EcoAir has some really cool features including a ‘Laundry Mode’ which is ideal for drying clothes.
The electronic control panel features a timer with 2/4/8 hour settings and if the mains power should go out for any reason then the EcoAir will automatically restart once the power is turned back on.
The EcoAir DD122MK5 also has a build-in anti-tilt feature which allows the machine to turn ‘off’ automatically if it’s tilted too far to one side. This is a very cool safety feature.
There is also an electronic oscillating louvre which can be used to pinpoint warm air into a certain spot or direction. This feature is particularly handy for drying clothes or targeting damp spots on a wall.
Allergies and Asthma?
The EcoAir DD122MK5 contains some great air cleaning tools which will greatly enhance the living environment of allergy and asthma sufferers.
The filter is an anti-bacterial filter which allows for cleaner air in the house as bacteria are pulled into the filter only to be stuck onto it.
The EcoAir DD122 MK5 Dehumidifier also contains an ioniser which sends out negative ions. These ions attach themselves to positive ions, such as dust, making the ions too large to be airborne. As a result the ions (read dust etc) either fall into the filter of the EcoAir or onto the floor where they are ready to be hoovered up.
Quiet As a Mouse
The EcoAir is a very quiet machine at its lowest setting producing a volume of only 34dBA which is equivalent to a soft whisper.
Normal running volume would be equivalent to that of a whirling computer fan whilst ‘Laundry/Turbo’ mode would be louder.
‘Laundry’ mode would be the least used mode and when drying clothes the recommendation is to do so in a small room with closed doors and windows therefore the operational volume of the DD122MK5 will be contained.
So, Should You Buy The EcoAir DD122MK5?
The EcoAirDD122MK5 is a great dehumidifier which is well worth the price and is very comparable to more expensive dehumidifiers.
You should definitely buy the EcoAir DD122MK5 if you;
