Over the last few months the most popular dehumidifiers have been flying off the shelves at Amazon.
Of course I don’t know exactly how many dehumidifiers are sold on Amazon however I have been watching the review numbers rise and rise and, by my calculations, over the last 2 months, several dehumidifier types have increased their customer reviews by around 300-400 reviews.
According to a recent article I read around 5-10% of purchasers on Amazon leave a review so each type of dehumidifier is selling around 600 units per week through Amazon alone!
Here are some of the more popular dehumidifiers being sold on Amazon:
The EcoAir ECO DD122 Desiccant Dehumidifier is a great dehumidifier for its price.
Being a desiccant dehumidifier means it is cheaper to run at lower temperatures, runs at lower temperatures, weighs less and makes less noise than a refrigerant dehumidifier.
The DD122FW’s extraction rate is 7 litres and it comes with a 2 litre water tank. Other features include an auto stop feature when the water tank is full, an anti-tilt protection mechanism as well as a manually adjustabe louvre to really focus airflow in the right direction. This is especially handy when drying clothes indoors with the ‘turbo’ setting.
The silver nano filter makes the EcoAir ECO DD122 Desiccant Dehumidifier ideal for those suffering from allergies and ashtma.
The EcoAir DD122 MK5 Desiccant Dehumidifier is the DD122FW‘s big brother.
The differences between the DD122MK5 and the DD122FW is that the DD122MK5 features an electric control panel instead of a rotary dial control panel. Also the ‘swing’ on the DD122MK5 is automatic whilst on the DD122FW the fan swing is manual.
However the biggest difference is that the EcoAir DD122 MK5 Desiccant Dehumidifier uses E7 technology which allows the dehumidifier to sense the behaviour of the family so that it can automatically adjust its settings for optimum use.
The DD122MK5 also features a 2/4/8 hour timer as well as a nano silver filter plus an ioniser.
If you can afford it purchase the EcoAir DD122 MK5 Desiccant Dehumidifier over the EcoAir ECO DD122 Desiccant Dehumidifier.
Another desiccant dehumidifier which seems to be selling well is the Meaco DD8l Dehumidifier.
The capacity of the Meaco DD8L is around the same as that of the EcoAir dehumidifiers with extraction coming in at 8 litres and a 2 litre water tank. Please note that an 8 litre extraction rate from a desiccant dehumidifier is equal to an 16-20 litre extraction rate for a similar sized compressor dehumidifier.
I call the Meaco DD8L the ‘half hour’ dehumidifier as when an adequate humidity level is reached the Meaco turns itself off only to run its fan a half hour later, for 5 minutes, to check the air moisture. If all is OK then the Meaco goes back to sleep for half an hour only to repeat the process again.
Therefore the Meaco will only run for 10 minutes out of every hour once the correct humidity level has been reached allowing the user to concentrate on something else whilst running the dehumidifier and allowing them to save enormous energy costs.
The Meaco DD8L Desiccant Dehumidifier is ideal for people suffering from allergies and asthma as the dehumidifier features an anti-bacterial filter and ioniser which pulls bacteria, pollen and dust etc from the air.
